Who?
Jake Richard - Freelance web designer
I’m a freelance web designer living & working in Skipton, close to the Yorkshire Dales national park. I have over 20 years commercial web design experience, & have been developing websites as a specialism since I graduated with a 2:1 design degree in 1999.
I have moved through a whole heap of different web technologies in my career, currently specialising in WordPress & WooCommerce.
Starting off from a background designing interactive CD-ROM’s (remember those)? & producing music for computer games, I have since worked on hundreds of websites & multimedia projects. From small website design projects for individuals & local businesses through to large web portals & eCommerce sites for multinational companies such as Proctor & Gamble, Cussons & The BBC.

Background
I’ve been working in digital design since 2000, back when the web was just starting to take shape as a commercial platform.
Early on, I secured projects with global brands including Adidas, the BBC, Sony, SC Johnson and Procter & Gamble, building websites and interactive media from a small home studio in Skipton.
Alongside web design, I’ve always worked in music production. A track I shared online led to a commission from a Sky TV video editor, which grew into ongoing work creating music for broadcasters and commercial clients.
Over the years, I’ve combined creative and technical skills across web, audio, video and photography, and have also taught these disciplines at further education level.
I still enjoy getting stuck into both the creative and technical sides of a project and finding simple, effective solutions that actually work.
